**Short Bio** In her tufted objects, immersive installations and performances, Talaya Schmid explores interpersonal relationships and communication as subversive acts. At the centre is the body as a political space, where sensuality, sexuality, and desire are negotiated in order to break social taboos and deconstruct stereotypical notions. A key focus lies on textile art as a feminist strategy: Schmid critically reflects on chapters of art history and marginalised positions to develop new narratives from the perspective of the female gaze. Colourful, humorous, and playful, her works create social spaces for exchange, intimacy and vulnerability, thus fostering a diverse and fluid society. Educated at Goldsmiths, University of London, Schmid has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the work grant from the Canton of Zurich (2023) and *Perform!* from Pro Helvetia (2024). Her works have been exhibited multiple times at the Kunsthaus Zurich, as well as at the Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Helmhaus Zurich, the Industrial Art Biennial in Croatia, documenta 14 in Kassel, and the Salon International d’Art Contemporain in Marseille. Schmid’s work is featured in many private and public collections, such as the Art Collection of the City of Zurich and the Museum für Gestaltung Zurich. *In ihren getufteten Objekten, raumgreifenden Installationen und Performances untersucht Talaya Schmid zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen und Kommunikation als subversive Handlungen. Im Zentrum steht der Körper als politischer Raum, in dem Sinnlichkeit, Sexualität und Lust verhandelt werden, um mit gesellschaftlichen Tabus zu brechen und stereotype Vorstellungen zu dekonstruieren. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Textilkunst als feministische Strategie: Schmid reflektiert kritisch Kapitel der Kunstgeschichte und marginalisierte Positionen, um aus der Perspektive des Female Gaze neue Narrative zu entwickeln. Bunt, humorvoll und spielerisch kreieren ihre Arbeiten soziale Räume für Austausch, Intimität und Verletzlichkeit und fördern so eine vielfältige und fluide Gesellschaft.* *Ausgebildet an der Goldsmiths University of London hat Schmid zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien gewonnen, so zum Beispiel den Werkbeitrag Kanton Zürich (2023) und Perform! von Pro Helvetia (2024). Ihre Arbeiten wurden mehrfach im Kunsthaus Zürich ausgestellt sowie unter anderem im Museum Haus Konstruktiv und im Helmhaus Zürich, an der Industrial Art Biennale in Kroatien, an der documenta 14 in Kassel und am Salon international d’art contemporain in Marseille.
